Wiconisco Township is a township located in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 1,168.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 26.1 km² (10.1 mi²). 26.1 km² (10.1 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 1,168 people, 476 households, and 330 families residing in the township. The population density is 44.7/km² (115.9/mi²). There are 530 housing units at an average density of 20.3/km² (52.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 98.72% White, 0.17% African American, 0.26% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.43% from two or more races. 0.09% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 476 households out of which 26.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.6% are married couples living together, 10.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.5% are non-families. 24.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 2.92.

In the township the population is spread out with 22.3% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 27.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.2 males.
