Weatogue is a town located in Hartford County, Connecticut. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,805.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 7.8 km² (3.0 mi²). 7.8 km² (3.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.99% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 2,805 people, 1,007 households, and 815 families residing in the town. The population density is 361.0/km² (935.0/mi²). There are 1,031 housing units at an average density of 132.7/km² (343.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 95.65% White, 0.75% African American, 0.04% Native American, 2.35% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 0.93% from two or more races. 1.71% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,007 households out of which 44.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.1% are married couples living together, 5.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.0% are non-families. 16.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.79 and the average family size is 3.15.
