Wadley is a city located in Jefferson County, Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,088.

Geography

Wadley is located at 32°52'14" North, 82°24'14" West (32.870491, -82.403756)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.9 km² (4.6 mi²). 11.8 km² (4.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.09% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 2,088 people, 765 households, and 516 families residing in the city. The population density is 176.8/km² (458.3/mi²). There are 872 housing units at an average density of 73.8/km² (191.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 20.26% White, 77.11% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.92% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. 2.49% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 765 households out of which 35.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 31.0% are married couples living together, 31.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.5% are non-families. 30.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
