Stratmoor, Colorado

Stratmoor is a town located in El Paso County, Colorado. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 6,650.

Geography

Stratmoor is located at 38°46'32" North, 104°46'55" West (38.775644, -104.781840)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 7.6 km² (2.9 mi²). 7.5 km² (2.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.68% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 6,650 people, 2,209 households, and 1,705 families residing in the town. The population density is 882.3/km² (2,283.3/mi²). There are 2,284 housing units at an average density of 303.0/km² (784.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 65.65% White, 12.27% African American, 2.06% Native American, 2.59% Asian, 0.27% Pacific Islander, 9.16% from other races, and 8.00% from two or more races. 19.56% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,209 households out of which 42.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.3% are married couples living together, 17.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.8% are non-families. 15.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.97 and the average family size is 3.27.

In the town the population is spread out with 32.6% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 16.5% from 45 to 64, and 8.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 98.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.7 males.
