Sam & Dave

Sam & Dave were an American soul duo, known as one of the best and earliest soul groups. Samuel Moore[?] and David Prater[?] met in Miami in 1961, singing to Roulette Records[?] before moving to Stax[?] in 1965. Their debut recording was "You Don't Know Like I Know" (1966), which was followed by a seres of hits, including "When Something Is Wrong with My Baby" (1967) and "I Thank You" (1968). Label and personality problems contributed to their break-up in 1970.

Sam & Dave reunited several times during the 1970s, partially due to The Blues Brothers' obvious debt to the duo. As was later revealed, drug problems contributed to the pair instability; Prater was arrested for selling crack-cocaine[?] to an undercover policeman. In 1988, Prater died and only Moore lived until the pair were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
