Rocklin is located at 38°48'0" North, 121°14'48" West (38.800011, -121.246731)¹.

As of the census of 2000, there are 36,330 people, 13,258 households, and 10,009 families residing in the city. The population density is 867.5/km² (2,246.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 88.32% White, 0.91% African American, 0.80% Native American, 4.16% Asian, 0.19% Pacific Islander, 1.93% from other races, and 3.69% from two or more races. 7.91% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 13,258 households out of which 42.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.3% are married couples living together, 9.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.5% are non-families. 18.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
