Rachel Joy Scott

Died: Apr. 20, 1999.

On April 20th 1999, when a hail of bullets rang out in the corridors of Columbine High School, many wonderful young people were lost. One of those people was seventeen year old Rachel Scott, dedicated Christian and keen actor. She was described as "the 'Joy' of everyone who knew her." Rachel kept several journals which detailed her incredible devotion to God, especially through the difficult times that many teenagers face when growing up. Miss Scott was clear in her intentions, she knew that she would change the world. Her involvement in Christian youth, in helping those less fortunate than herself makes it hard not to be inspired by this person, even if one did not know her personally.

Rachel Scott's father, Darrell Scott, has written several books on Rachel's short but incredible life, these are clear and easy to understand. Mr Scott and other members of Rachel Scott's family now speak at youth centres, high schools and colleges, spreading a Christian message of good will to all. 'The Compassionate Revolution' as it is called, is an innovative strategy of love, forgiveness and kindness, and it was all started by one girl who proclaimed in a world full of uncertainty "you can start a chain reaction of kindess."
