Prairie Ridge is a town located in Pierce County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 11,688.

Prairie Ridge is located at 47°8'43" North, 122°8'54" West (47.145326, -122.148230)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 11.1 km² (4.3 mi²). 11.0 km² (4.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.23% is water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 11,688 people, 3,902 households, and 3,109 families residing in the town. The population density is 1,059.3/km² (2,743.9/mi²). There are 4,038 housing units at an average density of 366.0/km² (948.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 93.38% White, 0.54% African American, 1.17% Native American, 0.91% Asian, 0.38% Pacific Islander, 0.79% from other races, and 2.84% from two or more races. 3.36% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 3,902 households out of which 47.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.4% are married couples living together, 9.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.3% are non-families. 13.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.00 and the average family size is 3.29.
