Pharsalia is a town located in Chenango County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 542.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 101.3 km² (39.1 mi²). 100.6 km² (38.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.74% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 542 people, 200 households, and 154 families residing in the town. The population density is 5.4/km² (14.0/mi²). There are 333 housing units at an average density of 3.3/km² (8.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.71% White, 0.55% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.55% from two or more races. 0.74% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
