Northern Exposure

Northern Exposure was a sometimes surreal comedic drama show that aired from 1990 to 1995, about the eccentric inhabitants of a small town in Alaska. The main character was ostensibly Rob Morrow as a Jewish New York doctor who was required to work in the town of Cicely in order to repay his student loan to the Alaskan state government. He is very disgruntled with this sittuation, and is frequently trying to find ways out of his obligation. Among his more prominent neighbors are Barry Corbin as a rich industrialist type, Janine Turner as a feircely independent pilot and Morrow's primary love interest, John Corbett as the philosophical ex-felon disk jockey, and a slew of other oddballs.

The show frequently made use of dream sequences and other dense imagery and could be described as a light hearted version of Twin Peaks.
