Meade Township is a township located in Mason County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 287.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 97.5 km² (37.6 mi²). 97.3 km² (37.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.24% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 287 people, 70 households, and 52 families residing in the township. The population density is 3.0/km² (7.6/mi²). There are 228 housing units at an average density of 2.3/km² (6.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 71.08% White, 22.30% African American, 2.09% Native American, 1.05% Asian, 0.35% Pacific Islander, 0.35% from other races, and 2.79% from two or more races. 2.44% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 70 households out of which 17.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.7% are married couples living together, 4.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.7% are non-families. 20.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
