Geography

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 1,405 people, 525 households, and 399 families residing in the town. The population density is 10.0/km² (25.9/mi²). There are 713 housing units at an average density of 5.1/km² (13.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 95.30% White, 2.35% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.50% from other races, and 1.64% from two or more races. 1.71% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 525 households out of which 33.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.0% are married couples living together, 7.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.0% are non-families. 19.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
