Marcus Hook is a borough located in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 2,314.

Geography

Marcus Hook is located at 39°49'6" North, 75°24'56" West (39.818212, -75.415561)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 4.2 km² (1.6 mi²). 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is land and 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 30.86% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 2,314 people, 919 households, and 565 families residing in the borough. The population density is 790.7/km² (2,055.7/mi²). There are 1,025 housing units at an average density of 350.2/km² (910.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 91.44% White, 5.32% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.61% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.69% from other races, and 1.86% from two or more races. 1.77% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 919 households out of which 32.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 33.9% are married couples living together, 19.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 38.5% are non-families. 31.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.52 and the average family size is 3.18.
