Lawrencium

A chemical element in the periodic table, Lawrencium has the symbol Lr and atomic number 103. Discovered in 1961 by Albert Ghiorso, Torbjorn Sikkeland, Almon Larsh and Robert M. Latimer, it is a synthetic element that does not occur in nature. The origin of the name, preferred by the American Chemical Society[?], is in reference to Ernest Lawrence, inventor of the cyclotron.

Lawrencium was discovered on February 14, 1961 in Berkeley, California.
