Kenton County is a county located in the U.S. State of Kentucky. As of 2000, the population is 151,464. Its county seat is Independence ⁶.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 426 km² (164 mi²). 420 km² (162 mi²) of it is land and 6 km² (2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.47% water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 151,464 people, 59,444 households, and 39,470 families residing in the county. The population density is 361/km² (935/mi²). There are 63,571 housing units at an average density of 152/km² (392/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 93.99% White, 3.84% African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.59% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.41% from other races, and 1.00% from two or more races. 1.10% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 59,444 households out of which 33.40% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.10% are married couples living together, 12.10% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.60% are non-families. 27.80% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.00% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.52 and the average family size is 3.11.
