Fort Dix is a town located in Burlington County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 7,464.

Fort Dix is located at 40°0'46" North, 74°37'30" West (40.012869, -74.625104)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 29.3 km² (11.3 mi²). 29.1 km² (11.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.53% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 7,464 people, 843 households, and 714 families residing in the town. The population density is 256.4/km² (663.9/mi²). There are 1,106 housing units at an average density of 38.0/km² (98.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 58.37% White, 35.64% African American, 0.44% Native American, 1.27% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 2.47% from other races, and 1.69% from two or more races. 22.79% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 843 households out of which 63.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 75.2% are married couples living together, 6.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 15.3% are non-families. 14.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 0.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
