Cuartelez is located at 35°59'20" North, 106°1'3" West (35.988889, -106.017452)¹.

As of the census of 2000, there are 452 people, 165 households, and 129 families residing in the town. The population density is 131.2/km² (339.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 57.74% White, 0.00% African American, 1.77% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 34.73% from other races, and 5.75% from two or more races. 86.06% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
