Black Creek is a town located in Wilson County, North Carolina. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 714.

Geography

Black Creek is located at 35°38'10" North, 77°55'60" West (35.635976, -77.933252)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.8 km² (0.7 mi²). 1.7 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 714 people, 279 households, and 210 families residing in the town. The population density is 411.5/km² (1,062.0/mi²). There are 296 housing units at an average density of 170.6/km² (440.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 77.73% White, 18.91% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.70% from other races, and 2.38% from two or more races. 2.24% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 279 households out of which 38.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.0% are married couples living together, 17.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.4% are non-families. 21.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.54 and the average family size is 2.91.
