Au Gres Township, Michigan

Au Gres Township is a township located in Arenac County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 1,007.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 100.7 km² (38.9 mi²). 87.7 km² (33.9 mi²) of it is land and 13.0 km² (5.0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 12.89% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 1,007 people, 434 households, and 311 families residing in the township. The population density is 11.5/km² (29.7/mi²). There are 636 housing units at an average density of 7.2/km² (18.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 97.52% White, 0.10% African American, 0.89% Native American, 0.30% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.09% from two or more races. 0.10% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 434 households out of which 24.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.1% are married couples living together, 4.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.3% are non-families. 24.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.32 and the average family size is 2.70.
