Au Gres is a city located in Arenac County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,028.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.2 km² (2.4 mi²). 5.9 km² (2.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.78% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 1,028 people, 468 households, and 285 families residing in the city. The population density is 174.1/km² (450.1/mi²). There are 733 housing units at an average density of 124.1/km² (321.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 95.43% White, 0.29% African American, 1.17% Native American, 0.29% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 2.72% from two or more races. 0.49% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
